Photographs do not do justice to this magnificent piece.  This is actually two paintings in one frame.  The big ship in the foreground is actually a reverse painting on glass.  Behind it is another background painting on a board.  We framed this with a protective piece of glass in front and spaced the background painting 3/8″ back from the glass painting to give a 3-D effect.  The whole thing is framed in a lovely dark shadowbox moulding that complements the ship nicely!

Please join us Sunday, October 7 at our reception for Richard Powers: Seen And Unseen.   This exhibit, a collaboration of  Baldwin Hill and Gallery 55, features shadowboxes and larger works by Richard M. Powers (1921-1996).  Best-known for his surrealistic science-fiction book covers of the 1950s-70s, Powers also had a large body of fine art work that he exhibited at the Rehn Gallery in New York and the Macaron Gallery in Madrid. We have been fortunate to work with the estate of Richard Powers to bring these works before the public again!

The exhibit and reception wil l be held at Gallery 55, located at 55 South Main Street, Natick, MA. on Sunday, October 7 from 5-10PM.  Gallery 55 is just a short walk from our shop.

Once again it’s time for Natick Center Art Walk! Downtown merchants team up with local artists to showcase their wares and their works.  Baldwin Hill Art & Framing will be hosting Natick artist Tamu.  Come to our shop and watch her work!  It will likely be a hot day, so we’re prepared with cold drinks and freeze pops for all visitors!  After you’ve cooled off here be sure to visit the other participating downtown merchants.
